Just Cause 2 Demo Release Date Announced With New Trailer

Just Cause 2 Demo Release Date Announced With New TrailerAvalanche Studios and Square Enix have released a new Just Cause 2 trailer and also announced when we can get our hands on the demo.

Just Cause 2 just looks like fun and this new trailer is a good example why. They are doing a really good job at marketing this game as just a huge island for you to do whatever you want. This new set of trailers entitled, "Anatomy Of A Stunt" demonstrates the crazy stuff that you can try out in the game. They show Rico climbing out of speed plane and grappling over to a fighter plane. He then plants a bomb on the other and opens his parachutes and floats away.

Just Cause 2 is going to be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC on March 23rd. A demo for the game that will give you 35 miles of land to play around in will drop on March 4th. Check out the new trailer after the jump.Read more…

Rockstar Releases A New Red Dead Redemption Trailer

Rockstar Releases A New Red Dead Redemption TrailerRockstar Games has released yet another trailer for their upcoming Red Dead Redemption, this time highlighting the women characters in the game.

Red Dead Redemption recently received a new trailer that focused on the game’s lawmen. Rockstar Games has quickly followed that up with a brand new trailer that focuses on the women. These don’t look to be the normal demure Wild West women you would expect to see but tough as nails women that will bring the fight to bad guys. You can see one that looks to be part of a revolution and one that is taking down a stage coach. The trailer doesn’t give out any names but they look to play a major part in the storyline.

Red Dead Redemption is going to be released on April 27th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the new trailer after the break.Read more…

Survey shows 35% of game developers dissatisfied with their salary

 Money

A survey conducted by Develop has revealed that nearly 35% of video game developers are dissatisfied with their salary covering the cost of living.

The survey polled over 400 employees within the industry, covering every sector from game design to sound.

Interestingly, the survey indicated that the average salary for the entire industry has risen from the previous year ($48,191 to $48,662), possibly as a quick recovery from the global credit crunch.

On average, an entry-level programmer makes a yearly salary of $31,970. Conversely, a lead programmer can average upwards of $77,642 per year, determined by seniority and experience.

Individual cities were not listed within the survey — which plays a large factor in determining results — but individuals from across the globe were interviewed.

VGChartz breaks down the console war

vgchartz chart

A recent article on VGChartz.com does a really great job of breaking down the console war in terms of numbers.

The chartz (yea, that’s right) show that the 360 has a clear lead over the PS3 in the U.S of about 9 million units and a marginal lead of about 200,000 units in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australasia, which is apparently a place.  The PS3 leads in Japan by about 3.5 million units. Globally, the 360 is leading by about 5.7 million, though that gap seems to be tightening.

And perhaps just to prove the point that the 360/PS3 battle is a fly in the ointment to Nintendo, the final chart shows that even combined, PS3 and 360 sales only outsell the Wii by about 2.5 million units.  And they haven’t even started talking about the DS.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Review

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce

It’s hard to believe, but here we are again with yet another review of a Dynasty Warriors game. The hack-and-hack-and-hack-and-slash franchise keeps chugging along, and judging from X-Play’s review, it appears that the latest installment, Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce throws in some much appreciated variation to the formula the franchise has stuck with so closely year after year, but it ends up being like so many a Dynasty Warrior enemy: expendable.

“Gone are the massive, wide-open battle plains through which military heroes used to race around like headless chickens. Now you’ll move through maps made up of small, interconnected “rooms.” There’s a lot more stuff in each of those areas than there ever used to be in a DW battlefield. That’s a plus. But there are a great many drawbacks, too.”

Marketing types generally like the Windows 7 "It Was My Idea" ad campaign. It conveys a message, takes subtle shots at Apple, and was much better than the alternative "Well, At Least It’s Not Vista" idea most people had running around in their heads. But that doesn’t mean it’s beyond ridicule, and CollegeHumor found a way to tear it to pieces. So for that, some photoshops proving people are taking Avatar way to seriously, a montage of montages and more, click on this week’s links.

  • CollegeHumor has an excellent parody of the Windows 7 "It Was My Idea" commercials.
  • If you plan on having kids, plan on being better parents than the ones seen in these 25 parenting fails on HolyTaco.
  • You couldn’t make an 80s sports movie without a montage set to bad music. UnrealityMag has the nine best 80s movie montages you’ll find anywhere.
